About lathe

Turning is the process used to remove the metal. In this process job is rotated against a tool.

Boring is the process to enlarge the hole which has drilled in an object. This formula counts required time for boring.

Drilling is the process to drill a hole in an object. This formula counts required time for drilling.

Facing is the process to remove the material from the surface at right angles to the axis of rotation of the job.

Knurling is the precess to produce diamond shaped impression on the surface of a component to make its surface rough for easy grip. Knurling is precessed on a which is performed on a lathe machine. For this knurling tool is used which is also known as 'Knurl'.

To make the drilled holes in perfect size on an object, the reaming preocess is performed. It removes a small amount of material from the object. The tool which is used in reaming preocess is called 'Reamer'.

In the process of tapping internal threads are made with a tool which is called tap. The formula of required time for tapping gives the required time for pusshing the tap inside and the formula of required time for cutting gives the required time for returning the tap.

The process of threading is used to produce helix by removing material from circular surfaces. In above equation L is length of thread in cm. If the number of start equals to 1,
Pitch = (1 / Thread per cm). If number of start is greater than 1,
Pitch = (number of start / Thread per cm).
